    “Simply exquisite…”

Nancy is an exceptional host and person! True to her word and a professional too! Beyond that she went above and beyond to help my parents feel comfortable and cared for during a moment or two when they needed assistance and I was not present. Casa Nokomis itself was everything and more my parents could have wanted, especially since there was an unexpected need to spend even more time indoors than they had originally planned. And we spent some fun time celebrating on the patio surrounded by nature. Simply exquisite… Thank you is insufficient, Nancy! :D

(Host note: This review was not posted on AirBnB because it was submitted a little too late, AirBnb has a 14 day review policy and beyond that any reviews don’t get posted. Chris graciously agreed to allow me to post it here on the website. Thank you, Chris! I very much enjoyed hosting your dear folks.)

“We’ve Already Booked for Next Year.”

Nancy was an amazing host. Her attention to detail and her concern that our stay was nothing less than ideal was so evident from the start. Aside from being a delightful woman, she thought of everything. The cottage was beyond clean, perfectly appointed, and lacking nothing. Bar-b-que grill, complete with every cooking tool, coolers, beach chairs all provided. Even though the cottage is in her backyard you would think you were on an island by yourselves. She was available if we needed but was clear from the start that our space was our space. The little things that she did were huge in the overall experience. We've already booked for next year.

“She Has Provided Special Touches That Make the Accommodation Cozy and Inviting.”

We were delighted with our stay at Casa Nokomis. Nancy has made sure that all of the basics are covered – comfortable bed, excellent bathroom, well appointed kitchen – but she has provided special touches that make the accommodation cozy and inviting. The garden, barbecue and patio area are unique. The location was perfect for us. Downtown Venice with its shops and restaurants is an easy drive and Nokomis Beach with lovely sand and great shelling is just as close. We ate at three restaurants which are just a few minutes walking time from the house. The neighbourhood is very quiet and there are residential streets for walking in every direction. For cyclists, access to the Heritage Trail is a couple of minutes away. Want to watch a sunset? Drive to Nokomis Beach or, better still, walk to the Legacy Trail bridge over Roberts Bay or take a short drive and then walk to the Heritage Trail bridge over Dona Bay. Come and enjoy.

“From the moment I entered the door I felt at home”

From the moment I entered the door I felt "at home". Loved the decor. Continued to find new art in home every time I looked around. Owner was very hospitable ... she gets a 10! Temperature was perfect. Just bring your suitcase and toothbrush as all is provided. Unbelievable! Highly recommend.

“This in my utopia; my piece of Eden.“

UNFORTUNATELY, I must agree with all of the reviews of this property. Why did I use the word UNFORTUNATELY? Because I don't want any of you snowbirds infringing on my vacation weeks. This in my utopia; my piece of Eden. But, seriously, all of the reviews could not be more accurate about the host, the accommodations, and the location.
I have been vacationing in Nokomis since 2009. I missed 2013 because of work and some minor health related issues. I have stayed with family and friends but like the saying goes: Friends and family sink after three days...throw them out!!!! So this year,in February and knowing that my employment allowed me to vacation in October of 2014, I went on line for studio apartments in Nokomis, Fl for October and lo and behold, the yellow Historic Cottage in Nokomis popped up. Over the years, I have passed this cottage 100 times; my brother lives 1/2 mile away. I contacted Nancy by e-mail and we spoke on the telephone. Subsequently, I e-mailed her by travel dates and I will able to reserve another piece of property listed under Floridaloha.com. The rented the Historic Casa Nokomis. The pictures are more than accurate but in person, the details of this property are astonishing. Several minutes prior to my arrival, I contacted Nancy. She greeted me in the driveway; we walked thru a patio area surrounded by flowers and plants; and I was at my front door in less than fifty feet. The patio was bricked and I saw a glass table with chairs, and an umbrella with LED lights. Nearby I saw a gas grill; Nancy told me that they were available anytime-day or night. I did make use of them. I entered my accommodations;I can not say anything more than what the other reviews have mentions. After settling in, I checked the kitchen- unbelievable- every drawer contained a treasure. Even extra paper towels. The bathroom was large and the closet in the bedroom had a stack of towels and wash clothes as high as a NY skyscraper. Enough about the lodging. Lets talk location and weather. I live in Rhode Island. I don't go to the beach during June, July, or August. Too crowded-traffic back-ups-paying for parking. I go in September. The weather is still in the upper 70's and sometimes into the 80's. No crowds, the boom boxes blaring, no fees for parking. Just warm water and quiet times for reading and tanning. And that's why I go to Nokomis in October and sometimes even into November. The weather is great-mid 80's, no humidity, sometimes no need for air-conditioning. Beaches only 2 miles away. Restaurant always have specials; golfing at Venice Lake near airport-$16.00 after noon for golf and cart. October and November are great months to vacation in Fl. The water is still warm and not usually crowded. January and February - no snow but the water is too cold. March is too crowded. Route 41 is a traffic nightmare; restaurants overcrowded, and the beach forget it. If you want a parking spot-get there before 9 am. I have been there in March-got a tan and a headache. Nancy has great properties and October-November are great times to relax. I will be back.

“My wife and I have vacationed in Florida, on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, for about the last ten years. Casa Nokomis is the best place we've ever stayed in.”

I was apprehensive. It was reasonably priced, we didn't need to rent for a full month, the description sounded wonderful, and the photos were enticing. It sounded like it might be too good to be true (like the apartment we rented a few years earlier in Longboat Key - that apartment sounded wonderful, but turned out to be, at best, tacky and a little short of comfortable).
The reality relieved my apprehensions - Casa Nokomis was cozy, charming, pretty, clean, well kept, very comfortable, and stocked with everything we could want. The garden was beautiful, with palm trees and a tree our host called an orchid tree, which was just what it looked like - a tree covered with beautiful orchid-like blooms. The location was great - quiet, with no traffic noise, and between two bays (you couldn't see them from the cottage, but they were within a ten minute walk). There is a great seafood restaurant, a natural foods restaurant, and an American-Indonesian-eclectic cafe within easy walking distance. There are many more good restaurants within a ten minute drive, and the City of Venice with its enjoyable business district is about a five minute drive. We never did find a good Chinese restaurant or Jewish Deli nearby, but both do exist in Sarasota, about 20 minutes away. Basic shops - pharmacies, Publix Supermarket, hardware store, post office, dry cleaners, etc. are within three miles.
My wife and I have vacationed in Florida, on both the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, for about the last ten years. Casa Nokomis is the best place we've ever stayed in. We hope to come back in 2015.

“Beautifully decorated with antiques as well as modern furnishings.”

My husband and I stayed 2 weeks in historic Casa Nokomis and could not have asked for better acommodations. The cottage extremely clean, and is beautifully decorated with antiques as well as modern furnishings including a very comfortable bed. The kitchen is a gourmet's delight, with every conceivable cooking gadget, high end pots and pans, beautiful dishes and glassware. We cooked most of our meals in the cottage and used the outdoor gas grill a lot. The only thing missing is a dishwasher, but if you have a partner, doing dishes together is part of the fun of getting away from home. Do not miss buying fresh seafood at Captain Eddy's around the corner. The yard is beautifully landscaped and relaxing. Nokomis is a great area with easy access to shopping and activities like the beach, fishing, and biking the Legacy Trail. Nancy is a wonderful manager and hostess; helpful, responsive, and kind. She even gave my husband ukelele lesson. I highly recommend Casa Nokomis and hope to return.

“We were very happy with our accommodations and would definitely stay here again if vacationing in the area.”

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Casa Nokomis. The cottage was very clean, well maintained and perfect for two people. We were greeted upon our arrival by Nancy, the owner of the cottage who helped orient us to the area and gave us some great suggestions for dinner. (Try the Curry Creek Cafe. Fantastic food!) The bottle of wine she gave us was wonderful and a very nice added touch, too! It was just a short drive to both the Venice and Nokomis beaches, as well as the shopping area of downtown Venice. Plus, Oscar Scherer State park was just a couple miles up the road for some interesting hiking. All in all, we were very happy with our accommodations and would definitely stay here again if vacationing in the area.

“I would give this property 6 out of 5 stars and the owner a 10.”

Accomodations at Vacation Rental 253504 were beyond anything we expected. From the Egret on the front door to the parrot tile in the bathroom, everything had an old Florida flavor extraordinaire.
We spent 4 weeks in "the cottage" and I don't think there was a day I didn't discover something new to amaze me. Everything you could possibly need was in the cupboards or drawers. It was as though the owner had gone through her home and duplicated everything. The dishes and silver ware continued with the Florida theme. Everything looked as though the owner spent a fortune on decorating the home.
There were 3 changes of sheets and plenty of towels and wash cloths, all high quality. The bed was comfortable and above all - the entire house was VERY, VERY clean.
Landscaping was beautiful, especially the 40' wall of Bougainvillea in full bloom. The patio was landscaped so everywhere you looked you saw more flowers and blooming trees. It was a perfect place to sit and enjoy the sun and read a book.
The owner is extremely friendly and a joy to visit with. She is truly talented and all her properties show pride of ownership. We spent several evenings visiting with her on the patio, but she is most respectful of your privacy and would not have stopped had we not invited her. She was very helpful when we asked about locations of golf courses, pet stores, etc.
Our dog was welcomed and spoiled. There is a great park half a block away to walk dogs.
I would give this property 6 out of 5 stars and the owner a 10. We have already reserved for next year. This is definitely a property you don't want to pass up.

“The Lovely Casa Nokomis, An absolutely wonderful place to stay.”

I spent two summer months in this charming, romantic cottage in the historic district of Nokomis. The decor is fabulous - hip old florida style. It was very clean and well maintained. The owner is so friendly and informative. She has a ukelele available for guests to play and will give a lesson as she plays very well herself. It was comfortable and had amenities such as wifi and apple tv. The yard is garden style and there are lovely details such as a pretty little fountain and a love seat swing. Also has a place to grill out - which is great with the fantastic weather. There are nice shops nearby and Captain Eddy's (walking distance) is a fun Florida restaurant with excellent food. Casa Nokomis is not far from the beaches with the warm Gulf water. Lots of shops and attractions nearby. An absolutely wonderful place to stay.

“The owner is a very kind person, lives nearby and is helping you whenever you need something.”

My wife and I spent two weeks in April 2010 in this cottage and had wonderful vacations. The furnishing is very tasteful and the house has everything you need for vacations (equipment for the beach, for cooking etc.). We liked especially, that the cottage is far away from touristic centers and near the sea. The owner is a very kind person, lives nearby and is helping you whenever you need something.

“Quiet and lovely, yet with all the modern amenities.”

A wonderful 20s style cottage within biking distance of the beach and charming shopping district. My daughter and I spent and idyllic week there last year.
Quiet and lovely, yet with all the modern amenities. We were able to use our laptops, watch movies or just hang out in the neighborhood. The beach at Venice is clean and not crowded at all, with the usual lovely Florida water.
I come from Boston and this was a complete and different experience...which everyone agrees makes for a great vacation.

“I definitely will be returning for some time in future years.”

Since 2000 I've spent some time each winter in this cottage. There is a garden I've used to relax and read. Several lovely wide beaches are a five or 10-minute drive away. The kitchen is clean, well-equipped and there are linens and wifi. The owner is onsite and usually available to answer questions. The space is just right for one person or two people who like each other. There are shops and fresh vegetables and fruits within an easy drive. I definitely will be returning for some time in future years and would recommend this cottage to a friend. Recommended for: Age 55+
